Absolutely brother, I think in that time it was just beneath the surface anyway, this just happened to hit at the right time and in the right place. I would guess that there are other examples of it in pop culture at the time used in nefarious ways.

Of course I agree 100% with the thesis of this essay, Brother Greg, but is there some credit due to the misguided creators of The Gate for at least seeing the mysticism inherent in Freemasonry, especially when so many of our in-Lodge Brethren do not?
