Keep in mind that I am a reporter here not the book writer. Here is the next to last paragraph of my review.

"My take on this book is that it is a researchers dream. If The National Compact and Prince Hall recognition are subjects you want to bone up on, you could find no better source. What may be irritating to some would be the bias of the authors who are not timid about letting you know what they think along with a good display of facts."

As you can see the authors have been irritating to some.

I admit I am still learning, but I think the criticism is off base here. I am reporting what the authors had to say. I am outlining for those that have not read the book a look at what is inside. These are not my thoughts nor my agenda. All things considered I think that Roundtree is a very well respected Prince Hall author and it was he who wrote in the Phylaxis Magazine, Winter 2007, NO 4 that his time at the Iowa Masonic Library was "imperative in the research effort." And he goes on to say, "I could not have written Chapter Four (National Grand Lodge) without visiting the Iowa Masonic Library."

I assume that those who object to the review have read the book because it has about 50 pages of documents to prove the interpretations that the authors make and that they have visited the Iowa Masonic Library and seen some of the Prince Hall material available on the Compact.

Lastly it would be more helpful to all instead of shooting the messenger to debate the authors point by point with a rational, logical argument rather than blanket personal discreditably.

Reading some of your review, one has to ask if all the information contained between the covers of this research is correct??? There was no healing of Hiram GL in 1847. The authors state that Grimshaw "fabricated" some history, however use Grimshaw as a source for the "so-called" healing of Hiram GL. The issue with many reviewers is that they are not well versed on the history of PH masonry. If the reviewer truly had a working knowledge of PH Masonry, then many other "red flags" would have been present in your review...
