Competition is often seen as a bad thing, when we think about it in terms of fighting over scarce resources. But we, as thinking humans, generally enjoy having a choice. The flip side of the 1950s attitude about accepting authority is that the authority often said “It’s my way or the highway,” or “take it or leave it.” The 1960s saw many people who were willing to “leave it.”

The post-modern Freemasons are not interested in coming back to something old; they are interested in having a choice, and want to re-form the Craft into something that suits the more libertarian mindset of our current society.
