This was a very inspiring essay. I value the ancient side of masonry and love the way that this essay drew parallels to the great schism and the problems that masonry faces today. I hope that every brother has taken the time to read this great article. I have been known to make overstated and reactionary posts on this site to some of the other modern articles in hopes of generating conversation and critical thinking about how changes to traditional craft masonry can in the end harm our beloved craft. From now on my posts will include a link to this great article in hopes that brothers will read it and consider the consequences both positive and negative that change can have on Freemasonry as a whole.

There's a lot to think about here. I am am scheduled to do my FC this month. What I am looking to get from Masonry is exactly what was asked for me at the lodge door the first time I knocked.

A fantastic piece. It leaves much to chew on, including the validity of any of the rites and rituals as we seem to have a date for "Time Immemorial".
It lead me to ask what myself what was Masonry like prior to 1717.
